The OG DaFu Rubber Feiyue are AED Certified Coated Goated Monkey Moded

🗣📣Attention all DANCE GAMERS‼

China already solved dance game shoes in 1958. MF SHAOLIN MONKS and MARTIAL ARTS PRACTITIONERS were using these before dance games existed.

These soft rubber shoes are insane. And they're cheap as shit because they've been mass produced in China for literal generations. I feel so fast in them when I'm using them, that I'm actually rushing/skewing a bit more than I usually do because the lift-off speed feels THAT instant.

But the shoe weighs like around 300 grams on my scale. How the hell does it feel faster than shoes I own that are like 200 grams?

Weight balance, lockdown, shock absorbency.

These shoes are on some Thanos shit. Perfectly balanced.

From heel to toe, the entire thing almost weighs the same all the way through due to being zero drop, or nearly zero drop. It feels REALLY nice for stepping on the down panels on SMX/DDR & the blue panels on PIU because it feels like a minimalist zero drop shoe, but has shock absorbency while maintaining the same ergonomics.

The lacing system is designed to hug the top of my foot, without limiting ankle mobility due to being made out of canvas cloth. The lace eyelets specifically stop BEFORE the ankle to ensure that ankle mobility isn't hindered.

So when I lift my foot, the sensation feels really fast due to a combo of the shoe weight being completely balanced, the soft rubber soles creating a spring-like effect similar to the AliExpress insoles I've been messing with in my other shoes recently, and the ankle not being hindered.

Additionally, the grip is that PERFECT balance of slippy vs grippy. They're grippy without being too grippy, which helps the speed sensation a lot when lifting them. If you clean them/the pads they don't get ridiculously sticky like most shoes with rubber treads, but get satisfyingly grippy.

These are definitely my go-to recommendation now for people who want something cheap and reliable for dance games. 16 bucks with free shipping is nuts.

In order to get the fit right, you want the heel counter to hug your heel because it's very flexible in the back. The shoes are true to size, so if the shoes you wear are already a snug fit and your toes reach the very end without discomfort (and the heel counter hugs your heel nicely), use the same EU Size as those and it'll fit perfectly. If you tend to leave space for your toes, you may need to size down by 1 EU Size so that the shoe fits correctly around your heel. You can size up for more toe space but it might ruin how the shoe is supposed to feel (an extension of your body and seemingly weightless even though they're brick-like).

Tips on buying these:

Make sure that if you decide to purchase a pair of these, that you only buy the "DaFu" or "Top One" ones from AliExpress/Chinese eCommerce websites--those are the authentic ones. If you buy them from a western website that advertises them as "Feiyue" and not "DaFu Feiyue" or "Top One Feiyue", you will get an inferior product because they don't have the same materials/construction/feel-- I own a pair of the western ones and they don't feel the same. I like them for just walking around, but I wouldn't use them for dance games because they feel more clunky.

The original shoes (pictured below) come wrapped in a brown paper bag with the laces wrapped around the shoes, and the latex bulbous squishy insole is built/stitched into the shoe, and all of the rubber is super soft/flexible.

If you buy the "New"/"Improved" one off of AliExpress by DaFu that looks flat like a skating shoe and features more colorways, it's more of flatter casual wear shoe that's similar to the westernized Feiyue, and not a shoe designed for athletics. The shock absorbency isn't the same, and the rubber is a lot stiffer, so none of the weight is working "with you" the same way that it does on the original ones.
