Shoe tweaking Chapter 387 lol
Started playing in my Tiger Serrano's recently after watching Seth (Happyf333tz) destroy some Pump D25/D26/D27/D28's in socks last weekend.
His form is really different from the majority of socks players I've watched in-person. He does not play like a socks player at all. He plays with the intensity of a shoes player but like, without shoes. Literally has like 15 years of callouses built up on his heels that protect his feet. Some real shaolin monk shit.
Felt inspired. My thought process if he can proficiently play the most physically demanding dance game content in socks, I can play in thinner shoes and I'll be just fine. I have to just condition myself and ease into it.
The Tiger Serrano's are my favorite shoe, but I felt like that I'd be nerfing myself because they weigh exactly the same as my Nike Flex Experience Run 12's but they have little-to-no shock absorbency/bounce.
The upside of them is they feel much faster to lift compared to the Flexes because the weight is much more balanced between the top half (upper) of the shoe, and the bottom half of the shoe (sole, midsole, outsole). Hitting up & reds with them feels incredibly consistent due to the shoes being completely flat and the weight distribution of the shoe feeling really consistent throughout, so it feels like it takes the same amount of energy regardless of what type of direction I move my feet in.
The only downside is I do have to dab a tiny bit of baby powder with them when playing Pump, because otherwise they're waaaay too grippy/squeaky/loud for efficient Pump form. I love having grip for accuracy on SMX/DDR, but it's so much grip that the pads sound like I'm playing in the NBA Finals on the Pump pads.
Since I don't wanna destroy my favorite pair of every-day wear shoes doing dance games since I typically chew a pair of shoes up in 6 months or so, I'm looking into alternatives to emulate the feel of the Tiger Serrano but much cheaper.

I found these water shoes on aliexpress which are pretty much identical in profile and flatness to the Tigers for like 8 dollars, so I'm gonna toss some lightweight insoles in these and use them instead so I don't destroy my Tigers. Curious if they will be just as grippy/squeaky. Gonna report back on the blog.
So far, the swap to the thinner shoes has been going well.
I had a monster session the other day where I burned like 2400 calories. It feels like I warm up a lot quicker and I'm utilizing way more muscle mass in my body to control my movements and I also feel like I'm able to go for a lot longer without any sort of fatigue when I am dialed in.
I also got a new APC on SMX!
